The City of Pocahontas has a wide variety of Economic Development Assistance packages available. Besides being able to tap into programs offered by the Iowa Department of Economic Development, the City of Pocahontas offers tax abatement and low interest loans to new businesses. In addition, the City of Pocahontas is located in an Enterprise Zone which provides the following for new industry: new jobs credit for withholding of 1.5%; sales, service, and use tax refunds; investment tax credit of 10%; research activities credit of 13%; and property tax abatement. The City offers tax abatement, TIF financing, low or no interest loans, and other incentives. Industrial and commercial sites are available including a 75-acre industrial park. The City of Pocahontas has a municipal electric utility which provides electric rates among the lowest in the state of Iowa. Water, wastewater, and solid waste collection services are provided by the city. Industrial and commercial sites are available.
